Olive Green 25mm × 4.2mm Painted Wafer Head Self Drilling Screws

Description

Our powder coated 25mm × 4.2mm wafer head self drilling screws are designed for fast, reliable fixing into light-to-medium gauge steel where additional fixing depth is required. Engineered for professional trade use, these screws deliver excellent pull-up, clean penetration and a discreet finished appearance, all without the need for pre-drilling.

The integrated self-drilling point is capable of penetrating steel up to 2.5–3.0mm, making this size ideal for fixing through sheet materials, folded steel, aluminium sections and light framing. The extended 25mm length provides extra reach for layered materials, insulation-backed panels or deeper steel sections, while the 4.2mm thread offers a balanced combination of holding strength and ease of installation.

The wafer low-profile head distributes load across a wider surface area than traditional pan or countersunk heads, reducing the risk of pull-through on thin materials and helping the fixing sit flatter against the finished surface. This makes the 25mm wafer head self driller a go-to choice for signage systems, hoarding panels, framing, ducting, cable containment and light cladding applications where appearance and performance matter equally.

All screws are powder coated to order in any RAL Classic colour, allowing installers, fabricators and contractors to colour-match fixings to panels, trims, graphics or corporate branding, delivering a cleaner, more professional finished installation.

RAL 6003 Olive Green is a versatile, earthy green often specified for infrastructure and industrial applications. It’s a great match for 22mm wafer head self-drilling screws used on sheet metal, enclosures and external panels.

Specification

  • Length: 25mm
  • Thread Diameter: 4.2mm
  • Head Type: Wafer low-profile head for wide load spread and neat finish
  • Drive: Phillips PH2 recess
  • Tip Type: Self drilling point – no pilot hole required
  • Material: Carbon steel with Bright Zinc Plated base coating
  • Finish: Powder coated to any RAL Classic colour; UV, scratch, weather & rust resistant; colourfast and durable

These 25mm painted wafer head self drilling screws are widely used by signage installers, hoarding contractors, steel framers, shop fitters, M&E installers and fabricators who require a dependable fixing for light-to-medium duty applications where aesthetics are still important.

Compared to shorter 16–19mm fixings, the 25mm length offers greater flexibility when working through multiple layers, folded steel edges or panel systems with backing rails. Meanwhile, the slimmer 4.2mm diameter allows for faster driving, reduced material stress and cleaner results in thinner substrates, particularly useful when installing at speed or working close to panel edges.

Our precision powder-coating process fuses colour at high temperature, producing a hard-wearing, corrosion-resistant finish that stands up to outdoor exposure, repeated handling and long-term use on site.

Frequently asked questions

What are 25mm wafer head self drilling screws used for?

They’re commonly used for signage, hoarding panels, steel framing, ducting, cable tray, light cladding and sheet metal applications where extra fixing depth is needed but a low-profile head finish is still required.

What materials can these screws penetrate?

The self-drilling point is designed to drill and tap steel up to 3.0mm thick, as well as aluminium and other light-gauge metals, without the need for a pilot hole.

Why choose 25mm × 4.2mm over shorter or thicker screws?

The 25mm length provides added reach for layered or backed systems, while the 4.2mm diameter offers quicker driving and reduced material stress compared to heavier 4.8mm screws, ideal for light-to-medium duty steel applications.

Can I choose a specific RAL colour?

Yes. We powder coat these screws to any RAL Classic colour, with fast turnaround and bulk discounts available for trade and large-scale projects.

Powder coated screws

Here at RALfixings, we believe it’s the small details that elevate a professional installation. That’s why we powder coat all our coloured wafer head screws in-house to exact RAL specifications.

Powder coating involves electrostatically applying coloured powder to the fixing before curing it at high temperature, creating a tough, uniform finish that outperforms traditional painted coatings. The result is a durable, colourfast surface designed to withstand site handling and long-term exposure.

Benefits of powder coated self drilling screws:

  • Scratch resistant
  • Rust resistant
  • UV resistant
  • Weather resistant
  • Colourfast
