Description
Olive yellow is not a colour that standard fixings accommodate. The muted, earthy tone of RAL 1020 sits far enough from any neutral grey or white that a zinc screw head reads as a clear intrusion on the panel face. These 25mm x 4.2mm flange head self tapping screws in RAL 1020 Olive Yellow are powder coated to match the dull, khaki-influenced yellow used across architectural cladding, industrial enclosures and specialist hoarding installations where this colour has been specified.
The 25mm length provides the thread engagement needed on installations where the substrate has depth. Timber batten frames, composite panels with backing layers and exposed hoarding structures subject to wind loading all call for a screw that reaches through the panel face and bites firmly into the fixing frame below. The extra length over a 19mm screw is not surplus; on these applications it is the correct specification.
The flange head bears against the panel surface across a wide footprint, distributing clamping force rather than concentrating it. This is the right head geometry for face-fixed work on ACM sheet, Foamex, rigid PVC and composite boards where point loading from a narrower head causes dimpling or surface stress under the fixing. The Pozi PZ2 recess provides a positive, cam-out resistant drive at installation torque, keeping the head surface and finish intact.
The 60° self-tapping thread and AB point cut directly into light-gauge steel and sheet metal frames without pre-drilling, and pull cleanly through softwood timber battens with strong holding power. Both substrate types are well served by the same screw.
RAL 1020 Olive Yellow
RAL 1020 Olive Yellow sits at the intersection of yellow and green, with a strong grey undertone that desaturates the colour into a dull, earthy khaki. It is not a bright or high-visibility yellow. The tone sits closer to military olive and natural stone than to the clean yellows of the RAL 1000 series, which makes it a specification colour for applications requiring a muted, recessive yellow rather than one that draws attention.
This colour appears on industrial and agricultural structures, architectural cladding systems with a natural or earth-toned palette, specialist hoarding installations and equipment enclosures where the colour has been deliberately specified to blend with a surrounding environment. On these installations, a standard zinc or grey fixing stands out sharply against a surface with this level of chromatic complexity. Powder coating to RAL 1020 is the only way to produce a head that sits within the panel rather than contrasting with it.
Each screw head is finished to the exact RAL 1020 Classic standard, with consistent colour across the batch. On cladding runs and panel systems where fixings appear at regular intervals across the face, that consistency matters as much as the colour match itself.
All RAL colours in the RALfixings range are held in stock for immediate dispatch, without the lead times that special colour orders typically carry.

Frequently Asked Questions
What applications typically specify RAL 1020 Olive Yellow?
RAL 1020 is most commonly found on industrial and agricultural structures, earth-toned architectural cladding systems and equipment enclosures where a muted, desaturated yellow has been specified. It also appears on specialist hoarding installations and facade panels where the colour is part of a natural or military-influenced palette. It is not a high-visibility yellow; the grey undertone gives it a recessive, earthy quality suited to applications where the finish is meant to blend rather than stand out.
When should I use 25mm screws instead of 19mm?
The 25mm length provides additional thread engagement for thicker substrates, deeper timber battens and double-skin panel assemblies. Where the 19mm version suits single-skin sheet metal connections, the 25mm delivers extra grip and pull-out resistance when the screw needs to pass through the panel face and reach solidly into the frame behind.
Can these be used to fix hoarding panels to timber frames?
Yes. The 25mm length and self-tapping AB point thread make these screws well suited to fixing panels to the timber battens and stud frames used on construction hoarding. The flange head distributes clamping force across a wide footprint to hold the panel flat, while the extra length provides firm engagement into the timber behind.
How quickly can you deliver?
RAL 1020 Olive Yellow is held in stock. Most orders dispatch next working day on a tracked 24-hour service. Larger volume orders typically ship within 3 to 5 working days.
Powder Coated Screws
RALfixings was built to solve one problem: giving contractors and specifiers access to colour-matched visible fixings without painting screws on site or accepting a near-enough alternative that reads as a mismatch on the finished installation. Every screw in the range is powder coated in-house to exact RAL Classic colour standards.
The electrostatic powder coating process deposits a fine layer of thermoset pigment onto the screw head, which is then cured under heat to form a hard, permanently bonded shell. This finish outperforms wet paint in adhesion, hardness, chip resistance, UV stability and colour consistency across production runs.
Benefits of powder coated self tapping screws:
- Scratch resistant
- Rust resistant
- UV resistant
- Weather resistant
- Colourfast
Other Colour Options
These 25mm x 4.2mm painted flange head self tapping screws are available in over 60 colour-matched RAL finishes for hoarding panels, signage and visible metalwork.

Recommended applications
Designed for fixing ACM panels, composite cladding, and timber facade boards to timber battens and structural substrates. The powder-coated head matches your panel RAL precisely, eliminating visible bright metal fixings against the facade surface.
Pre-drilling recommended for hardwoods over 20mm density. The flange head spreads clamping force across a wider footprint, reducing surface pitting and preventing pull-through on thinner sheet materials.
Not recommended for fixing into steel framing — use our self-drilling range for steel substrates.
