Description

Hoarding contractors, signage installers and fabricators fitting dark grey panels share a common requirement: a fixing that does not stand out against the finished surface. These 25mm x 4.2mm painted flange head self tapping screws in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey provide exactly that. A factory powder-coated fixing designed to disappear into contemporary dark panel systems.

The 25mm length offers greater thread depth than the 19mm variant, improving pull-out resistance in timber battens and providing a more secure connection through thicker or layered panel assemblies. On hoarding installations exposed to wind, that additional grip matters.

A flange head profile gives each screw a wider bearing surface than pan head alternatives, spreading clamping force across the panel face. Thin ACM, Foamex and printed composite materials benefit directly from this geometry. The load is distributed rather than concentrated, so panels sit flat without localised deformation around the screw.

The AB point cuts into sheet metal and light-gauge steel without pre-drilling, while the 60° self-tapping thread provides strong engagement in both metal and timber subframes. Drive is via Pozi PZ2, compatible with all standard trade power tools.

RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey: Specified Everywhere

Walk past any modern residential development, commercial building or retail unit and you will see RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey. It has become the defining colour of contemporary UK construction, specified on aluminium windows, composite doors, rainscreen cladding, curtain walling and an increasing number of construction site hoardings.

These screws feature a RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey powder-coated head that blends into anthracite-toned panels, dark grey hoardings and charcoal metalwork. On a large panel installation, the difference between colour-matched and unmatched fixings is immediately obvious. Once you have seen it, there is no going back to bare zinc.

Anthracite Grey is one of our highest-volume colours. It ships in quantity to hoarding contractors fitting dark-toned site screens, to fabricators assembling architectural metalwork, and to signage companies installing charcoal-grey panel systems on commercial frontages.

Every RAL colour is stocked and ready for dispatch. No waiting, no special orders. Colour-matched fixings available whenever the project timeline demands them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose 25mm over 19mm for hoarding?

The 25mm length provides deeper thread engagement into the subframe, which is important on exposed hoarding installations subject to wind loading. It also gives better purchase in timber battens, making it the preferred length for panel-to-timber connections where the shorter 19mm variant may not provide sufficient bite through the panel and into the frame behind.

Does RAL 7016 match aluminium window frames?

Yes. RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey is the standard colour used across the UK aluminium window, door and curtain walling industry. Our powder coating matches the same RAL specification, so these screws will sit consistently alongside anthracite-grey window and door systems on the same building.

Can I mix pack sizes in a single order?

Absolutely. You can combine any pack sizes within a single order. Many customers order a larger pack for the main installation and keep a smaller pack as contingency stock for snags or additional panels.

What happens if I over-tighten the screw?

Over-tightening can strip the formed thread in thin substrates or crack brittle panel materials such as Foamex or rigid PVC. The flange head provides a visual and physical stop point that limits how far the screw penetrates. Using a torque-limited setting on your driver is recommended, particularly on composite and foam-core boards.

Powder Coated Screws

The difference between a sprayed screw and a powder-coated screw shows up on site. Spray paint chips when the bit engages. It fades within months on south-facing panels. It flakes in rain. Powder coating does none of those things, which is why every screw in the RALfixings range is finished using an electrostatic powder coating and heat-curing process matched to RAL Classic standards.

The bonded finish is mechanically tougher than liquid paint, resistant to the abrasion of installation, and stable under prolonged UV and weather exposure. For procurement teams specifying fixings across multi-site hoarding contracts, this translates to a consistent colour match from the first panel to the last, and no costly revisits to replace faded or chipped screws.

Benefits of powder coated self tapping screws:

  • Scratch resistant
  • Rust resistant
  • UV resistant
  • Weather resistant
  • Colourfast

These 25mm x 4.2mm painted flange head self tapping screws are available in over 60 colour-matched RAL finishes for construction hoardings, signage and visible metalwork.
