32mm x 5.5mm Coloured Hex Head Tek Bolt

The 32mm x 5.5mm is the most commonly specified length in the structural Tek bolt range. With 21mm of effective thread engagement and a Self-Drilling No.3 point rated to 5.0mm steel, it covers the majority of sign frame fabrication, steel subframe fixing, and secondary steelwork applications without needing to reach for a longer bolt.

The hex washer head provides a large, flat bearing surface against the substrate face - important when fixing through a panel or sheet into a steel section, where the head must distribute clamping load without crushing or deforming the face material. Driven at 1,000–1,800 RPM with an 8mm hex socket, it seats cleanly and consistently across high-volume installation work.

Powder coated to your RAL colour. On architectural sign frames and structural metalwork, the fixing is visible and needs to match. That's exactly what this product is for.

Colour Matched to Your RAL Specification

40 stocked RAL colours for 3–5 working day lead times. Browse the full stocked range. Any RAL Classic colour available to order - including project-specific specifications, corporate brand colours, and heritage finishes not held in general stock. Contact us with your RAL reference.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 32mm x 5.5mm Tek bolt typically used for?

Sign frame fabrication, panel-to-subframe fixing, cladding rail connections, and general structural metalwork. The 32mm length delivers 21mm of thread engagement - the right balance for most single-section steel fixing applications in the 5.5mm range.

Is it suitable for fixing through an ACM panel into a steel frame?

Yes, provided the steel frame section is within 5.0mm. The 32mm length passes through the panel face and engages the subframe with sufficient thread depth. The washer head distributes clamping load against the panel surface.

Can I order a bespoke RAL colour?

Yes. 40 stocked RAL colours for standard lead times. Any RAL Classic colour to order - contact us with your reference and quantity.

What driver speed should I use?

1,000–1,800 RPM. Avoid impact drivers - the instantaneous torque can shear the drill tip before it fully engages the substrate. A standard corded or cordless drill at medium speed gives the cleanest result.

Powder Coated Tek Bolts

Every Tek bolt leaves RALfixings with its head powder coated to the RAL colour you specified. The electrostatic coating process bonds colour pigment to the metal surface before heat curing - producing a finish that is significantly harder and more durable than wet paint, and colour-stable through the installation process and beyond.

The process is applied to the head only, preserving thread form and drill point geometry. The BZP shank remains fully functional. The colour match follows the RAL Classic standard, ensuring consistency with the panels, frames, and substrates your installation uses.

Benefits of powder coated Tek bolts:

  • Scratch resistant
  • Rust resistant
  • UV resistant
  • Weather resistant
  • Colourfast
