Coloured 32mm x 4.2mm Flange Head Self-Tapping Screws
These 32mm coloured flange head self-tapping screws are the longest in the flange head range, built for fixing panels, trims, and sheet materials where maximum thread engagement is required. Thicker substrates, deeper timber battens, double-skin panel assemblies, and wind-loaded hoarding installations all demand a screw that reaches well beyond the panel face and bites firmly into the frame behind - the 32mm delivers the pull-out resistance these applications require.
The integrated flange head acts like a built-in washer, distributing clamping force across a wide bearing footprint. On ACM sheet, Foamex, and rigid composite boards, this prevents the dimpling and surface stress that narrower head designs apply at the fixing point. The 60° self-tapping thread and AB point cut directly into light-gauge steel and sheet metal frames without pre-drilling, and pull cleanly through softwood timber battens with strong holding power in both substrate types.
Manufactured from carbon steel with a bright zinc plated (BZP) base and finished in a durable RAL powder coat, each screw head is colour-matched to the panel it sits against. On large facade panels and continuous cladding runs where fixings are visible at regular intervals, a row of uncoated zinc heads breaks the finish the panel colour was chosen to achieve. A colour-matched flange head sits within the surface rather than against it, holding the detail together across the full installation.
41 RAL Colour-Matched Finishes
Every 4.2 x 32mm flange head screw is electrostatically powder-coated and oven-cured to a RAL Classic colour standard. The result is a hard, uniform finish bonded directly to the screw head and flange - resistant to scratching, chipping, UV fading, and general site wear. Unlike wet paint, powder coat will not peel, blister, or thin at edges over time, even on exposed external installations subject to weather, handling, and repeated panel changes.
With 41 stocked RAL colours spanning whites, greys, blacks, blues, greens, reds, yellows, browns, and purples, these coloured flange head screws cover the most commonly specified colours across cladding, hoarding, signage, and facade applications. Whether you are matching RAL 8019 Grey Brown timber-effect cladding, RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey facade panels, RAL 9005 Jet Black hoarding systems, or RAL 9010 Pure White commercial fascias, the right colour is available for immediate dispatch.
Need a RAL colour outside the stocked range? We hold over 400 RAL Classic powders and can coat to any colour on request. Contact us with your RAL reference for availability and lead times.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I use 32mm flange head screws instead of 25mm or 19mm?
The 32mm is the longest screw in the flange head range and provides the deepest thread engagement. Use it where the substrate is thicker, where panels are fixed to deeper timber battens, where double-skin assemblies increase the distance between the panel face and the fixing frame, or where wind-loaded hoarding installations demand maximum pull-out resistance. The 25mm suits moderate-depth substrates and standard timber frames; the 19mm suits single-skin sheet metal connections.
Can these screws fix into timber as well as metal?
Yes. The 60° self-tapping thread and AB point cut directly into light-gauge steel and sheet metal frames without pre-drilling, and pull cleanly through softwood timber battens with strong holding power in both substrate types. The 32mm length provides deep engagement into timber stud frames, making these screws well suited to hoarding installations on substantial timber substructures.
What is a flange head screw?
A flange head screw has an integrated washer built into the underside of the head. This wider bearing surface spreads the clamping load across a larger area than a standard pan or countersunk head, reducing the risk of pull-through on thin panels and minimising surface deformation. On ACM, Foamex, and rigid composite boards, this prevents the dimpling that narrower head designs can cause at the fixing point.
What driver bit do I need for these screws?
These flange head screws have a Pozidriv PZ2 recess. Use a standard PZ2 driver bit at controlled speed - the Pozi recess drives positively with minimal cam-out, keeping the head surface and powder coat intact during installation.
What RAL colours are available for these flange head screws?
These 4.2 x 32mm flange head self-tapping screws are stocked in 41 RAL Classic colours covering whites, greys, blacks, blues, greens, reds, yellows, browns, and purples. If you need a colour outside this range, contact us - we hold over 400 RAL Classic powders and can coat to any colour on request.
Powder Coated Self-Tapping Screws
RALfixings specialise in colour-matched visible fixings for the cladding, hoarding, signage, and construction sectors. Every self-tapping screw is powder-coated in-house using an electrostatic spray process, then oven-cured at 200°C to produce a hard, even finish that bonds directly to the screw head and flange.
Powder coating outperforms wet paint in every measurable way. The electrostatically charged powder particles wrap around the flange edge and into the Pozidriv recess, building a consistent film thickness that liquid paint cannot replicate. On large facade panels and continuous cladding runs where fixings are visible at regular intervals, batch-to-batch colour consistency across every pack is what holds the finish together. The cured finish is harder, more flexible, and far more resistant to impact, abrasion, and chemical exposure than paint, lasting years beyond a conventional painted finish in fully exposed exterior conditions.
Benefits of powder coated self-tapping screws:
- Scratch resistant - hard cured finish withstands handling, installation, and panel changes
- Rust resistant - BZP base plus powder coat provides dual corrosion protection
- UV resistant - colour stays true with no fading or chalking
- Weather resistant - will not peel, blister, or crack in exterior conditions
- Colourfast - consistent colour across production runs and pack sizes

Recommended applications
The longest screw in the flange head range, built for fixing panels, trims, and sheet materials where maximum thread engagement is needed. Thicker substrates, deeper timber battens, double-skin assemblies, and wind-loaded hoarding installations all demand a screw that reaches well beyond the panel face — the 32mm delivers the pull-out resistance these conditions require.
The 60° self-tapping thread and AB point cut directly into light-gauge steel and sheet metal frames without pre-drilling, and pull cleanly through softwood timber battens with strong holding power in both substrate types. The flange head distributes clamping force across a wide bearing footprint, preventing dimpling and pull-through on thin panels. Drive with a PZ2 Pozidriv bit at controlled speed.
For moderate-depth substrates and standard timber frames, the 25mm flange head is usually sufficient. For single-skin sheet metal connections, the 19mm is the most economical choice.
