Description
DeckingPro™ DS65 in RAL 1015 Light Ivory are 4.5 x 65mm A2 stainless steel decking screws for face-fixing thicker light-coloured composite boards, stair treads, and structural perimeter fixings where the additional 15mm of thread engagement provides greater pull-out resistance than a standard 50mm screw. The same warm ivory tone suits pale and cream-stained softwood and hardwood timber decking on steps and high-load surfaces, where the longer DS65 provides both the colour match and the structural depth that thicker boards and hardwood subframes require.
The DS65 is specified where board thickness exceeds 22mm, where joists are hardwood or composite rather than softwood, or where the fixing location is subject to concentrated loading. Decking steps and stair treads are the most common application. The double countersunk head profile and PZ2 drive remain identical to the DS50, ensuring consistent behaviour under power driving regardless of board thickness.
On pale installations in particular, the choice of screw length rarely affects appearance but it directly affects how long the deck performs under load. The DS65 provides the engineering margin that long-term outdoor installations demand.
Colour-Matched for a Professional Outdoor Finish
RAL 1015 Light Ivory is the warmer, softer alternative to the grey tones that dominate the composite decking market. It suits cottage gardens, Mediterranean-inspired outdoor rooms, pale stone terracing, and any project where the designer wants warmth rather than cool neutrality from the decking surface. The same tone also complements pale oak, ash, and cream-stained timber boards on steps and structural fixings where a light-coloured head is a more considered choice than a standard silver screw.
Matching the screw head to the board on pale and cream installations is arguably more critical than on darker colours. On anthracite decking a silver screw is subtle; on ivory decking it is prominent. The DS65 in RAL 1015 removes that problem at source. The head is powder coated in-house to the same RAL standard as the board nominal tone, sitting flush below the surface once driven.
Stock is held across all 8 DeckingPro™ colours for same or next working day dispatch, giving contractors the confidence to specify the correct fixing without lead time risk.
Substrate compatibility
DeckingPro™ DS65 in RAL 1015 is suitable for face-fixing a range of decking board materials to timber and steel subframes. A2 stainless steel is required where fixing into corrosive timber species.
- Composite decking boards 25mm and above - light ivory and cream composite boards requiring deeper joist penetration
- Softwood timber decking - treated and untreated softwood boards in pale, cream-stained, or lightly oiled natural finishes on steps and stair treads
- Hardwood timber decking - pale oak, ash, and similar light-toned hardwood boards where an ivory fixing head and greater pull-out depth are both required
- Corrosive timber species - green oak, cedar, sweet chestnut and other tannin-rich species where A2 stainless steel is required to prevent staining and fixing corrosion
- Hardwood and composite joist subframes - where longer thread engagement provides the necessary pull-out resistance on pale installations
Recommended fixing centres: 300mm to 400mm per board, minimum 25mm from board ends and 15mm from board edges.
Suitable for decking applications including
- Thick ivory and cream composite boards 25mm and above, for deeper joist penetration

Frequently asked questions
When should I use DS65 instead of DS50 for ivory and pale decking?
Choose DS65 when boards are 25mm or thicker, when fixing into hardwood or composite joist systems, or on stair treads and heavily loaded areas. For standard 20 to 22mm boards on softwood joists, the DS50 in RAL 1015 is the right choice.
Can these be used on hardwood and softwood timber decking?
Yes. DeckingPro™ DS65 screws are manufactured from A2-304 stainless steel, suitable for softwood, hardwood, and corrosive timber species including green oak and cedar. The longer 65mm length makes this the preferred choice for hardwood boards, hardwood joist systems, and stair tread fixing in timber where greater pull-out depth is required. The ivory head suits pale oak, ash, and cream-stained timber boards where a light-coloured fixing is preferable to a standard silver head. Pre-drilling with a 3.5mm pilot hole is recommended for hardwood boards and fixings close to board edges.
Which decking boards does RAL 1015 match?
RAL 1015 Light Ivory is the closest available RAL match to ivory and cream-toned composite boards from UK suppliers, and suits pale oak, ash, and cream-stained softwood timber boards in natural or lightly oiled finishes. Composite boards do not carry published RAL codes and colour can vary between batches. We recommend checking our colour matching guide before placing a full order.
Do I need to pre-drill for these screws?
For composite boards and softwood joists, pre-drilling is not required in most standard applications. For hardwood boards, hardwood joists, or fixings within 15mm of board edges, a 3.5mm pilot hole is recommended to prevent splitting.
How many DS65 screws do I need for a deck?
Fixing rates are the same regardless of screw length, typically 10 to 14 screws per square metre. For stair installations, allow approximately 6 to 8 screws per tread depending on tread width. Our 100-pack covers a small deck or a full staircase; the 200-pack suits most complete projects.
What are the delivery and lead times on DeckingPro™ screws?
All 8 DeckingPro™ stocked colours are available for same or next working day dispatch on a tracked 24-hour delivery service. Larger trade orders typically dispatch within 1 to 2 working days.
Powder coated decking screws
At RALfixings we specialise in colour-matched visible fixings for exterior applications. Each DeckingPro™ screw head is powder coated in-house to precise RAL colour specifications using an electrostatic process that produces a durable, uniform finish. The coating is applied to the head only. The stainless steel thread and shank remain uncoated to preserve mechanical performance and corrosion resistance.
Benefits of powder coated stainless decking screws:
- Scratch resistant
- UV resistant
- Weather resistant
- Colourfast in outdoor conditions
- Rust resistant - A2 stainless steel core
