Description
DeckingPro™ DS50 in RAL 7035 Light Grey are 4.5 x 50mm A2 stainless steel decking screws developed for face-fixing light and silver-grey composite decking boards, fascia boards, and riser boards where a pale grey fixing head is required to blend with the board surface. The same cool light grey suits grey-stained and naturally silvered softwood and hardwood timber decking, where a pale grey head sits more naturally against the board than a standard silver screw.
Light grey is among the most widely installed composite decking colourways in the UK, spanning board names such as light grey, silver grey, ash grey, and dove grey across the major brands. DeckingPro™ DS50 in RAL 7035 provides the closest available RAL match to these boards, ensuring that face-fixed areas including fascia, risers, edges, and repairs maintain a consistent, intentional appearance rather than being visually interrupted by a darker or more saturated screw head.
The double countersunk head drives flush to the board surface, and the PZ2 drive provides clean torque transfer under both cordless and mains-powered installation.
Colour-Matched for a Professional Outdoor Finish
RAL 7035 Light Grey is a cool, clean, medium-light grey. It is the standard light grey reference in European architecture and one of the most commonly used grey tones across aluminium systems, window frames, and powder-coated metalwork. When used on composite decking boards it produces a fresh, modern outdoor surface that pairs naturally with white render, pale stonework, and stainless steel balustrades.
The screw head is powder coated in-house to RAL 7035 Light Grey specification. On light grey fascia boards viewed at close range by anyone approaching the deck edge, the correctly matched fixing head is simply not visible as a distinct element. That invisibility is the point.
All 8 DeckingPro™ stocked colours are held for same or next working day dispatch, ensuring contractors can keep pace with installation schedules without delays on fixings.
Substrate compatibility
DeckingPro™ DS50 in RAL 7035 is suitable for face-fixing a range of decking board materials to timber and steel subframes. A2 stainless steel is required where fixing into corrosive timber species.

- Softwood timber decking - treated and untreated softwood boards in grey-stained, silvered, or naturally weathered finishes

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between RAL 7035 Light Grey and RAL 7042 Traffic Grey for decking screws?
RAL 7035 is a cooler, lighter grey, closer to silver grey and pale ash tones. RAL 7042 Traffic Grey A is a warmer, slightly darker mid-grey, better suited to stone grey and mid-grey board variants. If your boards are described as light grey, silver grey, or ash grey, RAL 7035 is the closer match. For stone grey and mid-grey boards, see our DS50 in RAL 7042.
Can these be used on hardwood and softwood timber decking?
Yes. DeckingPro™ DS50 screws are manufactured from A2-304 stainless steel, suitable for softwood, hardwood, and corrosive timber species including green oak and cedar. The pale grey powder coated head suits naturally silvered, grey-oiled, or grey-stained timber decking boards where a colour-matched fixing is preferable to a standard silver head. Pre-drilling with a 3.5mm pilot hole is recommended for hardwood boards and fixings close to board edges.
Which composite decking boards does RAL 7035 match?
RAL 7035 Light Grey closely matches light grey, silver grey, and ash grey composite board variants from leading UK brands. Exact colour varies by board batch and brand, check our colour guide for current matching information.
Do I need to pre-drill for these screws?
For composite boards and softwood joists, pre-drilling is not required in most standard applications. For hardwood boards, hardwood joists, or fixings within 15mm of board edges, a 3.5mm pilot hole is recommended to prevent splitting.
How many screws do I need per square metre of decking?
Typically 10 to 14 screws per square metre for standard deck field fixing depending on board width and joist spacing. A 200-pack suits most complete residential deck projects.
What are the delivery and lead times on DeckingPro™ screws?
All 8 DeckingPro™ stocked colours are available for same or next working day dispatch on a tracked 24-hour delivery service.
Powder coated decking screws
At RALfixings we specialise in colour-matched visible fixings for exterior applications. Each DeckingPro™ screw head is powder coated in-house to a precise RAL standard. The electrostatic coating process produces a finish that is harder and more UV stable than liquid paint alternatives, holding its colour consistently under prolonged outdoor exposure.
Benefits of powder coated stainless decking screws:
- Scratch resistant
- UV resistant
- Weather resistant
- Colourfast in outdoor conditions
- Rust resistant - A2 stainless steel core
