Description
DeckingPro™ DS50 in RAL 8019 Grey Brown are 4.5 x 50mm A2 stainless steel decking screws designed for face-fixing dark brown and walnut-toned composite decking boards, fascia boards, and riser boards where a deep, muted brown fixing head is required to blend with the board surface. The same grey-brown tone works equally well on hardwood and softwood timber decking in walnut, dark oak, and deep brown stained finishes, where a colour-matched fixing produces a cleaner result than a standard silver screw.
RAL 8019 Grey Brown is a dark, grey-inflected brown, deeper and more muted than a mid-brown like Terra Brown, with enough grey content to avoid reading as a reddish chocolate tone. In the UK decking market it maps closely to walnut, dark brown, and deep timber-effect boards that occupy the rich, dark end of the brown spectrum. On boards at this depth of colour, a correctly matched screw head disappears into the surface completely.
The double countersunk head drives flush, the sharp point starts without pre-drilling in standard applications, and the PZ2 drive provides reliable engagement under power installation.
Colour-Matched for a Professional Outdoor Finish
RAL 8019 Grey Brown is a sophisticated, restrained dark brown, earthy and substantial without the red-brown warmth of mahogany tones. It matches the dark end of the brown family across both composite and timber decking: the boards described as walnut, dark walnut, dark brown, and deep timber-effect finishes. For a deck in one of these darker tones, a silver or anthracite screw head produces a cool, industrial contrast that actively undermines the warm, natural aesthetic of the board.
Each DS50 head is powder coated in-house to RAL 8019 Grey Brown specification, producing a consistent, muted dark brown finish that integrates cleanly with dark board surfaces in all outdoor lighting conditions.
All 8 DeckingPro™ stocked colours dispatch same or next working day.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between RAL 8019 Grey Brown and RAL 8028 Terra Brown for decking screws?
RAL 8019 Grey Brown is a deeper, more muted dark brown with visible grey content, closer to walnut and dark timber tones. RAL 8028 Terra Brown is a warmer, richer medium-dark brown, better suited to coffee, chocolate, and warm mid-brown boards. If your boards are described as walnut or dark brown, RAL 8019 is the closer match. For coffee and chocolate tones, see our DS50 in RAL 8028.
Can these be used on hardwood and softwood timber decking?
Yes. DeckingPro™ DS50 screws are manufactured from A2-304 stainless steel, suitable for softwood, hardwood, and corrosive timber species including green oak and cedar. The grey-brown powder coated head complements dark hardwood boards including iroko, ipe, and dark oak, providing a more sympathetic finish than a standard silver fixing. Pre-drilling with a 3.5mm pilot hole is recommended for hardwood boards and fixings close to board edges.
Which composite decking boards does RAL 8019 match?
RAL 8019 Grey Brown is physically matched to walnut and dark brown composite boards from UK suppliers including Ultradecking and Dino Decking. Composite boards do not carry published RAL codes, check our colour guide for current matching information.
Do I need to pre-drill for these screws?
For composite boards and softwood joists, pre-drilling is not required in most standard applications. For hardwood boards, hardwood joists, or fixings within 15mm of board edges, a 3.5mm pilot hole is recommended to prevent splitting.
How many screws do I need per square metre of decking?
Typically 10 to 14 screws per square metre. A 200-pack suits most complete residential projects; a 100-pack covers fascia, riser, and step applications on a standard deck build.
What are the delivery and lead times on DeckingPro™ screws?
All 8 DeckingPro™ stocked colours are available for same or next working day dispatch on a tracked 24-hour delivery service.
Powder coated decking screws
At RALfixings we specialise in colour-matched fixings for exterior applications. Each DeckingPro™ screw head is powder coated in-house to a precise RAL colour standard. The electrostatic process bonds the coating firmly to the metal substrate, producing a harder and more UV-stable finish than liquid paint. Applied to the screw head only, the process leaves the stainless steel mechanical properties fully intact.
Benefits of powder coated stainless decking screws:
- Scratch resistant
- UV resistant
- Weather resistant
- Colourfast in outdoor conditions
- Rust resistant - A2 stainless steel core
Other DeckingPro™ DS50 colour options
DeckingPro™ DS50 decking screws are available in 8 RAL colours matched to leading UK composite and timber decking board tones.
