Description

DeckingPro™ DS50 in RAL 8028 Terra Brown are 4.5 x 50mm A2 stainless steel decking screws for face-fixing coffee, chocolate, and mocha-toned composite decking boards, fascia boards, and riser boards where a rich, warm brown fixing head is required to match the board surface. The same warm brown head colour makes these equally well suited to hardwood and softwood timber decking in similar tones, where a colour-matched fixing provides a cleaner, more professional finish than a standard silver or zinc screw.

RAL 8028 Terra Brown is a deep, warm, saturated brown - richer and more amber-inflected than the grey-brown of RAL 8019, sitting firmly in coffee and chocolate board territory. It is one of the most widely confirmed physical matches in the DeckingPro™ palette, verified against boards from Ultradecking, Dino Decking, and Cladco across multiple batches. For brown composite boards at this tonal depth, the correctly matched screw head is virtually invisible once driven flush, the fixing disappears and the deck surface reads as continuous.

The double countersunk head, sharp point, and PZ2 drive are consistent with the full DS50 range, providing the same reliable installation performance across every colour and board type.

Colour-Matched for a Professional Outdoor Finish

RAL 8028 Terra Brown takes its name from terracotta and earth tones - a warm, grounded brown that evokes dark timber, rich garden soil, and the worn patina of natural materials. It matches composite boards that reference coffee, chocolate, mocha, and dark oak finishes across the UK market, providing a fixing head that shares the board's tonal warmth rather than interrupting it with a cooler or more neutral tone.

On fascia boards and riser boards in coffee and chocolate composite - where a continuous, unbroken brown surface is the design intention - a silver, grey, or even a slightly wrong brown screw head creates a visible dot pattern that no amount of careful board laying can resolve. The DS50 in RAL 8028 eliminates that issue at source. The same principle applies to hardwood timber decking in warm brown and dark oak tones: the fixing should complete the surface, not interrupt it.

All 8 DeckingPro™ stocked colours are held for same or next working day dispatch.

Frequently asked questions

Which composite decking boards does RAL 8028 Terra Brown match?

RAL 8028 Terra Brown is physically matched to coffee, chocolate, and mocha composite boards from major UK suppliers including Ultradecking Mid Brown, Dino Decking Mocha, and Cladco Coffee. Composite boards do not carry published RAL codes and colour can vary between batches - check our colour guide before placing a full project order.

Can these be used on hardwood and softwood timber decking?

Yes. DeckingPro™ DS50 screws are manufactured from A2-304 stainless steel, which is suitable for use with softwood, hardwood, and corrosive timber species including green oak and cedar. The warm brown powder coated head complements dark oak, iroko, ipe and similarly toned hardwood decking boards, providing a more sympathetic finish than a standard silver fixing. Pre-drilling with a 3.5mm pilot hole is recommended for hardwood boards and fixings close to board edges.

What is the difference between RAL 8028 Terra Brown and RAL 8019 Grey Brown?

RAL 8028 Terra Brown is a warmer, richer brown, best matched to coffee, chocolate, and mocha composite boards and warm-toned hardwood timbers. RAL 8019 Grey Brown is darker and more muted, with grey content that makes it closer to walnut and deep timber-effect boards. For coffee and chocolate tones, RAL 8028 is the correct match. See our DS50 in RAL 8019 for darker walnut-toned boards.

Do I need to pre-drill for these screws?

For composite boards and softwood joists, pre-drilling is not required in most standard applications. For hardwood boards, hardwood joists, or fixings within 15mm of board edges, a 3.5mm pilot hole is recommended to prevent splitting.

How many screws do I need per square metre of decking?

Typically 10 to 14 screws per square metre depending on board width and joist spacing. Our 200-pack suits a complete residential deck; the 100-pack covers a staircase and fascia boards on a mid-sized project.

What are the delivery and lead times on DeckingPro™ screws?

All 8 DeckingPro™ stocked colours are available for same or next working day dispatch on a tracked 24-hour delivery service.

Powder coated decking screws

At RALfixings we specialise in colour-matched fixings manufactured and finished in-house. Each DeckingPro™ screw head is powder coated to a precise RAL standard using an electrostatic process that produces a hard, UV-stable, weather-resistant finish. The coating is applied to the head only - the stainless steel shank and thread remain uncoated, preserving full mechanical performance and corrosion resistance throughout the life of the installation.

Benefits of powder coated stainless decking screws:

  • Scratch resistant
  • UV resistant
  • Weather resistant
  • Colourfast in outdoor conditions
  • Rust resistant - A2 stainless steel core
